They needed a secure Salesforce platform to eliminate the need for disconnected Excel spreadsheets and to provide a unified database that could support investigation cases, rescue operations, operational intelligence, and legal proceedings, and have complete visibility into related data.
Build a Connected Data Model
To link investigation cases to perpetrators, victims, government officials, operational teams, external partners, pieces of evidence, locations, and prosecution documents, while not duplicating or disconnecting the information, a relational data structure was necessary.
Enable Secure Global Accessibility
They needed a platform to help investigators cooperate securely, share data and information between countries without compromising confidential operational information, provide role-based access to specific data, and enable the ability to handle multilingual users and security controls that could be customized.
Investigation cases, leads on trafficking and intelligence data were processed on isolated Excel sheets. With the rise of records, it became challenging to maintain links between investigations, suspects and victims, leading to decentralised data and inefficiency in the management of cases.
All operational locations were only stored as latitude and longitude values. The process of making the coordinates available to investigators by hand was time-consuming and delayed vital fieldwork.
Photographs, witness statements and legal documents would not be assured in investigations. Evidence continued to be kept on a number of files, and this made it more difficult to find and verify evidence.
The process was not role-based and lacked field-level security and auditing. Operational data, including sensitive information, records of victims, and investigation information, were still exposed to unauthorised access.
Centralized Data Architecture
Investigation records were centralized by creating a relational Salesforce data model with custom objects, master-detail, and lookup relationships. Lightning Record Pages and Enhanced Related Lists were set up to make it easy to see all operational data relating to a record.
Smart Location Tracking
Native Salesforce native location solution with choice of location, implemented as a dual-option solution. There were two types of addresses: address fields, which supported Google Maps Autocomplete, and formula fields, which could create dynamic Google Maps links for faster access to an address.
Multilingual Experience
Translation Workbench was used to set up the Salesforce environment to support English, Spanish, and Thai. To automatically set language and locale based on users’ working areas, Record-Triggered Flows were enabled.
Secure Data Access
OWD, role hierarchies, criteria-based sharing rules, and field-level security protected investigation records, evidence, and victim information; ensured secure collaboration; and enabled a role-based security framework.

The organization carries out rescue missions, working with the legal system and government authorities in several geographic regions over the world, using intelligence-led investigations.

Centralized processes in Salesforce replaced spreadsheet-based processes, linking investigations, operations, evidence, criminal networks, victim, and prosecution records into a single system.
The basic feature-rich Salesforce functionality, a configurable data model, multilingual access, role-based security, and geolocation management ease were put into place. The solution delivered allowed for a structured investigation management platform, providing an enhanced view of operations, enabling global cooperation, and securing access to mission-critical information.
